# Agents Forget. Devs Don’t.

*Plus… the lunch-break hack that broke policy, and edge-ready Transformers.*

*MLOps Community — Agentic AI Foundation, 2025-10-23*

No space for zombie code at AgentMail’s HackHalloween @ YC.

They’re hosting a 24-hour hackathon at the YC office in SF from Oct 31 to Nov 1 for people building autonomous agents. Expect 200 of the Bay’s top builders, big prizes, a $1,000 costume contest, and guaranteed YC interviews for the winners.

Costumes encouraged, laptops required.

## The Hoarder’s Dilemma

Agents that never forget become hoarders - prune or perish.

Your stack: Forget or Archive?

## Time For Action

Actions speak louder than words - 78% said they were building action agents.

## Overcoming Agentic Memory Management Challenges

When an agent hears “fix this,” the wrong memory can tank the answer. This approach wires agent memory to cut noise and surface the right context fast.

 * Relationship graph - memories link with typed, scored edges, bidirectional connections, and safe merges, all preprocessed by an LLM at insert and retrieval.
 * Smart auto-collections - hierarchical categories plus composite scoring 30-70 refine retrieval inside the right “folder.”
 * Time controls - keyword driven temporal weighting balances short term context vs long term store.

Result - cleaner hits, fewer false positives, sharper answers.

SLIDES-TO-TRANSLATE: WHEN IT SAYS NO, BUILD A $0.04 SOLUTION ON YOUR LUNCH BREAK

A blocked extension. A 155-slide translation job. One lunch break. Instead of waiting for approval, an engineer spun up a $0.04 AI-powered translation pipeline using Colab, Vertex AI, and Gemini 2.5 Flash - all inside corporate security limits.

 * Full-stack in a notebook: Uses Drive and Slides APIs to read, translate, and rewrite entire decks automatically.
 * Threaded translations: Parallel Gemini calls via ThreadPoolExecutor slash latency and cost.
 * Enterprise-safe hack: Keeps data inside GCP while sidestepping red tape.

It’s a neat reminder that with the right toolkit, the fastest way through bureaucracy is code.
