## AI in M&A: Building, Buying, and the Future of Dealmaking

M&A deals are a lot like Git merges: slow, messy, and full of conflicts.

DealRoom came out of Kison’s frustration with manual M&A workflows - he wanted something like Jira, but built for buy-side teams.
To build AI into the product without derailing their main roadmap, they made a few smart technical and org choices:

 * Used vendor APIs to validate early use cases before considering in-house model deployment
 * Spun out a lightweight sub-team to prototype and ship faster
 * Applied LLMs for shaping customer interviews, not just building product features

## The MOST IMPORTANT Conversation Around MCP and A2A

Went in person for this one, and it was worth the jet lag to catch up with Sam and Rahul.

We got into what agents and tools actually mean in practice, and why acting on a user’s behalf is still a fragile process. Tool use is expanding fast, but authorization and execution are where things start to fall apart.

Tool permissioning came up as a major sticking point:

 * Agents need scoped, delegated access - not blanket tokens
 * OAuth flows now involve agents as intermediaries
 * Without structured auth, you're left choosing between unsafe overreach or tools that can’t do much at all
